Cadiz City Map

There are a couple of CCcom Subscribers requesting for a Map of Cadiz. Long ago, I started mapping Cadiz City at Google Earth and Maps. Since that time, a couple more Cadiznons have added their details to the Map to make it more interactive and useful even for simple GPS Navigation use.

The Admin of CCcom proposed to the City Before to Map Cadiz in a highly detailed manner for GPS tracking and StreetView availability. However the City is not ready yet or at the moment dont need the technology, but rest assured that Cadiz does not lack the talent nor professionals who are able to do it if called into action.

Here is your requested Map. (just zoom-in to see street names, establishments and businesses)

SM Cadiz is a HyperMarket

Due to the recent comment on Cadiz-City.com of our guest commenter Sir Mai Escalante, we performed more research regarding the proposed SM Mall in cadiz which we earlier announced as “rumors” of an SM Savemore.

We learned from Mr. Escalante that it is SM Hypermart, which is the sweet and short SM Hypermarket Chain of SM Supermalls. It is larger than SM Savemore as mentioned and researching the general size of this mall, it falls in between the size of an SM City and an SM Savemore.

SM Savemore and Gaisano Rumors

I have heard a rumor from a reliable source, although I think it really will come into fruition since plans are already on the drawing board. The area between Zone 4, possibly the reclamation area, will be the location of two new buildings and establishments that will liven up Cadiz City as we move on with the new City Slogan “Bilis, Ugyon Cadiznon!” which was originally coined by the City Mayor Patrick Escalante simply as “Bilis Cadiz”

These businesses will namely be Gaisano Mall, and SM Savemore. However, some relocation and displacement will be implemented to squatters on the area to make way for these investors. The location was chosen due to the proximity it has with the new Cadiz City Port which is now in the early operation stages, currently only light boats that travel between Cadiz and Bantayan Islands is in place and fully operational.

This will be good news for mall rats and small businesses in Cadiz, we hope that the small businesses that already exist wont get affected by this development. Although this will probably be finished in the next three years.

Cadiz Tourism Month a Success!

There were a bunch of good things happening for Cadiz for the month of September. It was officially announced as the tourism month, but prior to this according to sources, Cadiz was shortlisted on the Five LGU’s for Literacy in the 2010 Philippine National Literacy Awards. Then the results are in and I have the honor to make a Video presentation for the City which if there was more time would have been awesome. I only had four days to build it, but the result was satisfactory. It was reused for the night of the “Body Painting” Contest which is part of this news article.

Cadiz on the Final announcement in the Teachers Camp in Baguio, placed 3rd versus Five Finalists, Davao Taking the 1st Place giving them a Grand Slam for winning the said event three times in a row. But, Cadiz being new in contention couldn’t have wished a better result for the campaign. We bested so many cities in the whole Philippines and that’s an achievement in it self.

The Lucky 99 Store

Lucky 99

Lucky 99

There are a bunch of stores suddenly popping up in Cadiz City. First we have a slew of the old reliable stores, then the invasion of the Korean Owned stores popped up.

Now there is a new store I heard is owned by a Cadiznon. The name of the store is Lucky 99. Ther is a new store also of the same type here called the Novo Store, and there is another one called Hanson. This post however is more aimed at the Lucky 99 store.

The catch is that most of their item prices are either priced at 99 Pesos, (roughly 2USD) and some other items containing the number 99 in them like 199 Pants and 29.99 table ware. The store official color I assume is Yellow, as the sales ladies uniform are in yellow and so is the general theme of the store, wall paint, racks and tags are all in yellow.

Dana’s Petshop the Story

Dana's Pethshop

Dana's Petshop

I asked for the History of Dana’s Petshop here in Cadiz where I am a customer as well. I had them construct a pond and have bought a few fishes from them as well, the following interview was done with the owner Vincent Ybañez.

History of Dana’s Pet shop:

Back in June 6, 2006 Vincent Ybañez opened a small fish pet shop named MIJA FISH SHOP. He only sold 9 kinds of fishes which were carps, comets, gold fish, angel fish, janitor fish, fighting fish, hammerhead sharks, rainbow shark, and cichlids, which I may say is a small variety. It was really a small business that started from a hobby by Vincent. The small things he learned running a small pet shop helped him think of a bigger future. He continuously operates the small pet shop for 3 years. In 2009 there was a little problem that he encountered; He didn’t have someone to watch over his shop. In short he said “wala ko alalay”, since he went to college. That is why he decided to temporarily close his beloved pet shop.

In November of 2009, Vincent decided to open the pet shop business again with his then girlfriend now wife Catherine. They decided to start a medium scale Continue reading
