Giving The Cadiz Way

I was scouring the world wide web for some interesting sites and social pages that are related to Cadiz so I can at least compile a few of them for the purpose of letting the Cadiznons know how connected we are to digital media. Well I found a few notable social communities and groups that I have added to my previous post.  During this time I also found a few websites that I linked to from this site before. I found this hidden gem of a site a few days back that caught my very short attention span.

Gift Giving The Cadiz Way!

One of my friends from overseas (a Cadiznon also) one day asked if there is a way for her to send out a gift to her little sisters birthday here to Cadiz safely. She did not trust couriers (aside from it being very expensive), and other online sites and services of the like especially if she doesn’t yet know how legit they are.

She asked for a favor from me if she can send the gift through me in form of online cash (considering I do a lot of transactions online and stuff), and just buy the stuff for her sister here locally. Id like to do that for a friend every so often, but how about others who don’t have someone like me to ask a favor from to do a simple request like this for them. That good friend of mine also quipped that she hoped there was a way to actually just send her little sister a gift that she personally bought than giving her cash or go through the hassle of Continue reading

No Zagu? No Problem, Get BlackPearl!

A friend of mine recommended a place where I can get some good Pearl Shake. Pearl Shakes are actually basic shakes with little black pearls that you can sip through a very large straw. It was popularized here in the Philippines by Zagu who In my opinion has the best Pearl Shake so far. Since I am a fan of the said Pearl Shake, I was happy that Dinagsa was looming around and standees of Zagu are available. Sadly, only during special events like Dinagsa and the Cadiz Charter Day is Zagu available.

So one day, a friend suggested an alternative place that has a nice Pearl Shake all-year-round in Cadiz. I usually like to go to places to chow after a long day of work, so I decided to Check it out. I discovered this place along Magsaysay Street (correct me if Im wrong, will have full details soon). I later learned that the owner of the joint is also a good friend of mine who not only provides a couple of Pearl Shake Flavors, but some fries as well. I haven’t really checked the whole menu since I immediately jumped to the Pearl Shakes Section.

Black Pearl - Pearl Shakes and More!

The Name of the Place is Black Pearl assuming that they coined it from the famous Pirates of the Caribbean Movie made popular by Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. Anyway, the place doesn’t resemble a pirate ship or anything along that theme, but rather a nice, clean and cozy place with a colorful theme. The name I then assumed is due to the black little pearls I sip through on the Pearl Shake, hence “Black Pearl”.

I asked the owner to send me a few details as to history, inspiration and other details to this nice Pearl Shake Place where Zagu’s flavor is almost identical to theirs(Which I really liked). The servings are flavorful and an order of two crisscut french fries (cheese and sour cream) and Two Large Pearl Shakes are delivered under 10 minutes. (Maybe more if there is a long queue).

I recommend the Black Forest Pearl Shake and Choco Fudge which are my absolute favorites. And Hey, if you drop by at their place, let them know you learned it from this site, so we can get more word around and share the things we like at Cadiz through Cadiz-City.com!

PureGold and Robinsons SuperMarket

There are nice intriguing comments exchange going on at one of our Posts and comments area here at the Cadiz-City.com. This is regarding to a new rumor circulating after we mentioned the rumors of SM and Gaisano. Confirmed so far is that SM will have an SM HyperMarket that will be put up in Cadiz.

Here is a screen-cap of the exchange. Our Guests I assume are marketing people studying Cadiz for prospective businesses, correct me if I’m wrong.

Cadiz-City.com Comments

Now the rumor mill is again buzzing with news of a PureGold in Cadiz. And also an interest of Robinsons to Start at Robinsons SuperMarket as well. We cannot confirm it at this time, but considering Cadiz City is one of the very first Cities in Negros and located at a very strategic location, I hope investors will find Cadiz City a good place to do business with while not stifling the Small businesses in Cadiz but alternatively supporting it.

Cadiz City Map

There are a couple of CCcom Subscribers requesting for a Map of Cadiz. Long ago, I started mapping Cadiz City at Google Earth and Maps. Since that time, a couple more Cadiznons have added their details to the Map to make it more interactive and useful even for simple GPS Navigation use.

The Admin of CCcom proposed to the City Before to Map Cadiz in a highly detailed manner for GPS tracking and StreetView availability. However the City is not ready yet or at the moment dont need the technology, but rest assured that Cadiz does not lack the talent nor professionals who are able to do it if called into action.

Here is your requested Map. (just zoom-in to see street names, establishments and businesses)

SM Cadiz is a HyperMarket

Due to the recent comment on Cadiz-City.com of our guest commenter Sir Mai Escalante, we performed more research regarding the proposed SM Mall in cadiz which we earlier announced as “rumors” of an SM Savemore.

We learned from Mr. Escalante that it is SM Hypermart, which is the sweet and short SM Hypermarket Chain of SM Supermalls. It is larger than SM Savemore as mentioned and researching the general size of this mall, it falls in between the size of an SM City and an SM Savemore.

SM Savemore and Gaisano Rumors

I have heard a rumor from a reliable source, although I think it really will come into fruition since plans are already on the drawing board. The area between Zone 4, possibly the reclamation area, will be the location of two new buildings and establishments that will liven up Cadiz City as we move on with the new City Slogan “Bilis, Ugyon Cadiznon!” which was originally coined by the City Mayor Patrick Escalante simply as “Bilis Cadiz”

These businesses will namely be Gaisano Mall, and SM Savemore. However, some relocation and displacement will be implemented to squatters on the area to make way for these investors. The location was chosen due to the proximity it has with the new Cadiz City Port which is now in the early operation stages, currently only light boats that travel between Cadiz and Bantayan Islands is in place and fully operational.

This will be good news for mall rats and small businesses in Cadiz, we hope that the small businesses that already exist wont get affected by this development. Although this will probably be finished in the next three years.

Cadiz Tourism Month a Success!

There were a bunch of good things happening for Cadiz for the month of September. It was officially announced as the tourism month, but prior to this according to sources, Cadiz was shortlisted on the Five LGU’s for Literacy in the 2010 Philippine National Literacy Awards. Then the results are in and I have the honor to make a Video presentation for the City which if there was more time would have been awesome. I only had four days to build it, but the result was satisfactory. It was reused for the night of the “Body Painting” Contest which is part of this news article.

Cadiz on the Final announcement in the Teachers Camp in Baguio, placed 3rd versus Five Finalists, Davao Taking the 1st Place giving them a Grand Slam for winning the said event three times in a row. But, Cadiz being new in contention couldn’t have wished a better result for the campaign. We bested so many cities in the whole Philippines and that’s an achievement in it self.
